"Over last summer, I read the Dream of the Red Chamber by Cao Xueqin - a family epic from 18th century China. The richness of the story drips off the page in vibrant color, revealing what life was like for giant families in mansions at that time and place. The spirit world, Taoism, and poetry are woven together with the mundane details of aristocratic living in Qing China. Time and again, the reader is privy to detailed descriptions of fantasy garden scapes and otherworldy realms. Rare fruits, fine clothing, elegant bushes, and striking flowers are everywhere. This is a quick poem about lychees spoken in the late spring by a pavilion in the garden set up to receive royalty and entertain the family. Light up and dream lychee." - D.S.

Usage

For the first lighting allow the entire surface of the candle to be fully melted to maximize the full use of wax

Trim wick 1/4" before each lighting

Our candles are made from soy-vegetable wax and use a cotton wick. The burn time is 60 hours. Our glasses candle vessels are meant to be reused and repurposed.

For optimal burning, trim wicks to a ¼ inch before each light to avoid smoking and overheating the glass. The first burn should be long enough for the surface layer to liquify to the edge to ensure even subsequent burns and prevent tunneling – we recommend 2 hours.

Always protect the surface on which the candle sits and keep out of draft. Do not burn for more than four hours at a time. Do not leave unattended.
