The Bougie Witch Will See You Now: Meet Sage & Salt Founder Corbin Chamberlin

Words by Ellie Laffner

You don’t choose your nickname – it chooses you. Corbin Chamberlin learned this years ago when a client affectionately dubbed him a ‘Bougie Witch’, and like all great nicknames, it stuck.

A former fashion journalist turned modern mystic, Chamberlin has built his brand Sage & Salt around energetically charged scents and tools for ritual and manifestation. But his approach is different; he doesn't believe enlightenment should come at the cost of aesthetics.

"There’s this outdated idea that if you’re spiritual, you have to live without," Chamberlin says. "That’s never resonated with me – and it’s not how my clients live, either."

In other words, you can light a candle when Mercury is in retrograde and still care how it looks on your nightstand.

Bougie Witch Beginnings

Spend enough time online and you’ll notice a certain form of modern mysticism is having a moment – from ’Etsy witches‘ selling spells to the 369 Method of manifestation and FYP tarot readings on TikTok. But for Chamberlin, the mystical was never about a trend. He was born into it.

"I grew up in a very spiritually inclined household,” Chamberlin recalls, adding, “Grounding before school, charging crystals under the full moon – it was all completely normal.” This tradition continues today, with Sage & Salt offering stone bundles for love, protection, abundance and more.

Whether you’re a believer or not, Chamberlin offers a pointed reminder: “There’s always been fear around people who think differently; it’s labelled as something dangerous.”

The Celebrity’s Guide to the Stars

Alongside the title of ‘Bougie Witch’, Chamberlin has also been dubbed ‘The Celebrity’s Guide to the Stars’. Though he won’t disclose his high-profile clientele, he reveals a common thread among them: they’re all searching for “clarity, direction and a sense of grounding.”

It was this high-profile work that led to a moment of unexpected generosity: the gift of a Birkin bag. But the bag quickly took on a life of its own. “I immediately noticed the amount of attention it brought,” Chamberlin says. “Not all of it felt good.”

To guard against the negative energy it attracted, he turned to the ancient symbol of the evil eye (known as the naẓar or máti), reimagining it as a bag charm – a protective yet beautiful object that also “happens to look especially good on a Hermès bag.” ‘Bougie Witch’, indeed!

The Intersection of Ritual and Design

That balance between ritual and design remains central to Sage & Salt today. “I wanted to create pieces that could live in your home as both ritual objects and beautiful designs, things that could turn a space into an altar without compromising aesthetics,” Chamberlin explains.

Nowhere is this more evident than in his fragrances, where scent is not simply a composition of top and base notes, but a translation of energy. Take Luna Absolute Extrait de Parfum, a blend crafted for reflection and release, contained in a striking bottle: “It’s not enough for it to smell good,” he explains. “It has to create a reaction — you should feel something shift when you wear it.”

Driven by the belief that flora carries its own unique intelligence (yes, flowers have feelings), Chamberlin uses specific notes to shift a mood, draw something in or help release it. But the process goes even deeper than ingredients.

To ensure the energy carries through, every Sage & Salt scent is created within a specific moon cycle and often surrounded by corresponding crystals before bottling, reinforcing the energy before it ever reaches someone.

The result is a collection of fragrances designed to be worn with intention – like Moon Ring Extrait de Parfum, a blend built specifically for fresh starts and powerful intention-setting. Whether you wear them as a daily signature or go further with a mantra, the goal is to turn something routine into something personal, for the committed and curious alike.

Elevating the Everyday

Ultimately, Chamberlin’s mission is to dismantle the wall between the mystical and the material, viewing luxury not as a distraction from spiritual work, but as a celebration of it. “I love quality, I love design, I love taking care of myself and the people around me,” he says.

As Sage & Salt continues to carve out its own category in the beauty and wellness space, Chamberlin’s message remains a rallying cry for the modern seeker: you don’t have to shrink your lifestyle to find your centre. As he puts it: “The universe doesn't ask you to play small; it's not on some kind of budget. Dream big.”
