Winning an Oscar in pale pink Ralph Lauren, rebranding divorce, sending newsletters as a form of social media… it was all her first. Another one: high-performance formulas that put results first, and the outside noise second.
The Story of goop beauty’s Beginnings
Despite humble beginnings, it quickly sparked a drive in Paltrow to make every next move count. From ethically sourced, plant-derived, cruelty-free formulas to a holistic approach to beauty rituals, every detail is considered: “The goop beauty ethos is very clear to us – we create luxurious, high-performance formulas using clinically proven, best-in-class ingredients,” she says. “That commitment to efficacy and elevated formulation is our north star, and it guides every product we make.”

On Being a Disruptor
There’s no denying that Paltrow is a true innovator. Since her pivot from acting to her weekly newsletter (goop beauty’s predecessor) to the empire itself, she has always known how to get people talking. And talking. And talking some more. But what does she really make of her status as a disruptor? “I’ve accepted that this is part of my role,” she explains. “It can be frustrating at times, but when the conversation eventually catches up, it reinforces why it was worth exploring in the first place. Being a disruptor means trusting your instinct and being willing to ask questions before they’re widely comfortable.”
As an early pioneer of the ‘clean beauty’ trend in 2008, Paltrow has remained focused on ingredients: what truly works, and what doesn’t. “I’ve learned how important it is to truly understand which ingredients deliver real, measurable results and which don’t. It reinforced how much rigour and intention go into creating products that genuinely support the skin,” she says.
Is Gwyneth Paltrow’s Skincare Routine Actually That Simple?
This approach to curating products with next-level results has led the brand to explore ingredients often reserved for your dermatologist’s office. See: skin cell-supporting exosomes in the Exosome Hydration Therapy Serum, micro-exfoliating minerals in the Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator and time-rewinding peptides in the Youth-Boost Peptide Serum.

And with peptides the new hot topic due to their ability to tackle visible signs of skin ageing (fine lines, uneven tone, sagging, dullness, et al.), goop beauty is doubling down on their topical (pun intended) benefits with the new Youth-Boost NAD+ Peptide Rich Cream. Or, as the brand calls it, “an all-in-one supercream”.
So, What is NAD+?
As for how the two buzzy ingredients work together: “Topically, ingredients like NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide), a precursor to NAD+, are used with the intent of supporting the skin’s energy systems and resilience. While peptides have long been studied in both nutritional and clinical settings, their role in topical skincare is distinct – focused on signalling and surface-level skin behaviour rather than systemic biological change,” says Karina.
All in all, they behave like compounds already found in your skin, assisting and supporting its function so it behaves – and looks – younger, for longer.

Menopause – Let’s Talk About It
If you’ve been following goop’s editorial posts or podcast (hosted by the founder herself), you'll know that menopause isn't a topic that Gwyneth shies away from.
“Openness has always been at the heart of goop,” Paltrow says. “I’ve shared where I am in my own life because our readers have grown alongside me, and many are navigating the same transitions. Creating space for these conversations helps normalise things that, for too long, felt isolating,” she adds.

Our Final Burning Question
So, how does one emulate Gwyneth’s aura?
“Live in integrity and invest deeply in your relationships,” Paltrow says. “Laugh often, make time for the people you love, and find meaning in small, daily rituals – those are the things that create a life that feels rich and grounded. Also, cooking breakfast for your partner never hurts.”
