Battling with persistent breakouts? Struggling to quell sensitive skin? Dealing with dehydration no serum can seem to solve?

With access to cutting-edge skin technology and advanced cosmeceutical skincare, the right in-clinic treatment can take your results far beyond what your at-home routine can achieve alone. But with everything from LED light therapy (in red, yellow and blue), skin needling and clinical peels on the menu, knowing where to start can feel like a feat.

When in doubt, speak to an expert! As the Clinic Manager at MECCA Aesthetica (located on the top floor of MECCA Bourke Street), Georgia creates custom treatment plans for common skin concerns every day. From calming sensitivity to supporting collagen production, consider this your insider guide to finding the right treatment for your skin.

Dehydration

According to Georgia, dehydration is one of the most common skin concerns dermal therapists encounter at MECCA Aesthetica – particularly when the weather turns colder. While a lack of moisture can lead to flakiness, texture and increased sensitivity, the solution is surprisingly simple: “A really great starting point is our Aesthetica First Step: Consultation + Treatment,” Georgia explains. “Using VISIA Skin Analysis, we can really narrow down the cause of that dehydration and eliminate any other underlying issues.”

If you’re interested in taking your skin to the next level, Georgia suggests a Customised Clinical Treatment Level 1 – which can be tailored to solve any skin concern but works particularly well for dehydration. “There’s that beautiful mask element, and lymphatic drainage [massage] in there as well,” Georgia says. Combined, they help create the ideal conditions for skin to look and feel its best.

Sensitivity

If you’re encountering the signs of sensitivity – redness, discomfort, or tightness – Georgia recommends a 60-minute Bespoke Facial from the celebrity and beauty-editor-lauded skincare brand, Biologique Recherche. “The brand’s formulations are so hyper-specific, our dermal therapists can ensure they’re using... ingredients to target the underlying causes of [your] sensitivity,” Georgia explains, adding, “At MECCA Aesthetica, we look to get to the root cause of skin concerns... We want to calm and soothe in the moment and prevent those flare-ups coming on in the future as well.”

Pigmentation

“In terms of pigmentation, we actually have a few options on our menu depending on the severity,” Georgia says. The Customised Clinical Treatment Level 1 is a great starting point, and from there Georgia recommends what she calls a “mixed modality” approach: “Something like the Customised Clinical Treatment Level 3, which utilises BioRePeel, is really beneficial – especially when combined with Meso Skin Needling.”

For those new to skin clinic treatments, BioRePeel is an advanced chemical peel that is totally painless, needle-free and requires no downtime; the Level 3 treatment amplifies it with LED light therapy. According to Georgia, when combined with Meso Skin Needling, pigment in the skin begins to break down – improving clarity, texture and uneven skin tone immediately and over time.

Breakouts

As with all MECCA Aesthetica treatments, Georgia emphasises the importance of treating the cause of breakouts and blemishes, rather than just the symptoms. “More often than not, it’s a combination of multiple factors combined that cause a breakout,” she explains. “LED [light therapy] is always a really great treatment option, and we have a few to choose from. The 830-nanometre laser (a gentle but deep-penetrating wavelength) is super effective in calming inflammation and that discolouration we see post-breakout. For those in the phase of an active flare-up, we have a blue 415-nanometre LED... which works to actively inhibit the bacteria that causes blemishes, making the skin an inhospitable environment for breakouts.”

Not sure where to start? Georgia always recommends beginning your skin journey with a VISIA Skin Consultation – from there, your dermal therapist can recommend the best course of action.

Signs of Ageing

“My favourite treatment to target signs of ageing is probably a 120-minute Bespoke Biologique Recherche Facial, because of the incredible Remodelling Face device,” Georgia tells the Memo. “When combined with rigorous draining and sculpting massage techniques, it achieves the most incredible lift. We perform the treatment in a half-face fashion, which means my clients quite literally can see the before-and-after difference in real time.”

Another option Georgia recommends is Meso Skin Needling, an effective treatment to support collagen production. Georgia notes a significant increase in collagen elastin production “every single time we do a skin needling treatment,” adding, “It’s really instantaneous, which makes it perfect for achieving that pre-event glow!”
