At MECCA HQ, the brows are as unique as the faces they’re attached to; whether fluffy and free or groomed and glued – and in all shapes, sizes and colours – it’s safe to say there is a wealth of brow prowess across the office.
In the name of research, we asked six of the team to test our top-rated brow products. From lamination-worthy gels to feathery pencils, these are the products that will raise a few brows.
Finding a colour match for your brows can make or break your look, and nobody knows this more than our auburn and red-haired friends. The risk of veering too orange can quickly take your arches to pumpkin spice latte territory; too dark and they'll pull too much focus.
Luckily, brand experience specialist Alex was thrilled to find the ‘Auburn’ shade of Glossier’s Boy Brow to be spot on for her locks. Combined with the Boy Brow Arch pencil, it gives her “the fluffiest brows ever.” Start with the pencil to define and shape, then sweep the gel upwards to create a Cara Delevingne-level of power brow, without any stiffness or crunch.
"I’m going to add this to my routine for when I want a full brow,” she said. The creamy, angled pencil makes it easy to fill any gaps and sketch out your natural shape, while the gel conditions and sets everything in place for a feathery, full look.
The dual-ended wonder tool offers a retractable pencil on one end to fill and define, and a detachable spoolie on the other to groom and finesse. Hilary loved how easily it applied to create a lush, full brow. (Pro tip: celebrity makeup artist and brand founder Gucci Westman suggests using the spoolie to blend out and soften the product where you need to keep your application seamless.)
Jackie, from MECCA’s Distribution Centre, experienced the power of the pencil first hand: “I love the fine tip; it really fills in my brows while keeping them looking natural.” Even better? “I loved how full and sculpted it made my brows look, without being too intense,” she said. The medium shade was a perfect colour match, providing natural coverage in sparser areas.
