Wait a couple of minutes after applying your skin prep products like moisturisers, serums or primers, then apply your foundation. If using a brush, pump the foundation onto the back of your hand first, then work it into the fibres of the brush before buffing it over your face. If using a sponge, dampen it first – run it under clean water, then squeeze it at least three times so it’s moist but not wet. A damp sponge absorbs less product and will give a smoother application. Apply a small amount of foundation directly to your face, then gently bounce the sponge over the foundation to work it into your skin (don’t drag it, as this can cause streaks). A pro tip is to work in sections – start by applying a little foundation to the centre of your face, then the forehead, then each cheek – as you don’t want your foundation to set before you’ve blended.
