Words by Madeleine Boles de Boer

She’s your favourite MUA’s favourite MUA. Fara Homidi is the visionary behind countless red carpet looks, editorial shoots and runway shows, and now, her own effortlessly chic beauty line has landed at MECCA.

There’s a certain weightiness to Fara Homidi Beauty that instantly says ‘luxe’. In a striking palette of red, black and blue, it’s makeup you display proudly on your vanity or pull out to reapply at the table. But while the packaging turns heads, the real question is: do the products deliver?

Promising an undetectable, ‘no-makeup makeup’ look and creamy, blendable formulations, Fara Homidi Beauty is all about making artistry feel accessible. It offers easy compact formulas, designed to simplify your routine without sacrificing finish.

To see how it performs, we put it to the test with four MECCA team members – Anandi, Elena, Roisin and Winnie – and got their first impressions on the makeup brand of the moment.

Roisin, Head of Customer Insights

For anyone chasing skin that looks like skin, the Essential Face Compact is Fara’s answer to an easy, all-in-one complexion. The dual-finish palette combines a foundation-concealer and an illuminator in one genius product. For Roisin, it was an instant unlock for fresh, radiant skin.

“Not a contoured look, not a glam look but just genuinely good skin, which is honestly the hardest thing to achieve,” she said of the velvety compact. She described it as an “effortless” blend, with “no patchiness, and no fuss.” The product’s innovative design also blew her away: “The dual-finish format is such a smart idea; you can take it from matte to luminous so easily.”

Finishing her look with the Essential Bronzer Compact, she instantly added warmth and dimension to her face, without looking overdone: “The finish is soft and natural in a way that’s hard to explain until you see it for yourself.”

Elena, General Manager Omnichannel Product, Experience and Engineering

A red lip that you can apply with just your fingers, feels comfortable all day and actually lasts? It might sound impossible, but if you ask Elena, Fara Homidi Beauty has done it!

Trying the Essential Lip Compact in the showstopping shade ‘Red 1’, Elena was wowed by the hue, despite being someone who doesn’t often wear a red lip. “I loved the pop of colour –it’s one of those reds that feels bold but not intimidating. It instantly lifts your whole look and works beautifully no matter the occasion or season,” she said.

Describing the finish as sitting between a satin and a soft matte, she found it “incredibly buttery and comfortable” to wear throughout the day. True to Fara’s dual-purpose philosophy, the compact contains a Prime Baume for hydration and prep, and Colour Plush – a lightweight, high-pigment colour. The result? All-day wear, without compromising on comfort. “There’s a real sense of moisture without any heavy shine, which I loved. It kept my lips feeling hydrated without looking glossy,” explains Elena.

Winnie, Senior Brand Manager

If the thought of blue eyeshadow conjures up images of bad ’80s music videos, Fara Homidi Beauty is here to change your mind. Trying the Essential Eye Compact in ‘Trio No. 61’, Winnie is officially a convert – more specifically, to Fara Homidi’s school of lived-in, creased blue shadow.

“This eyeshadow really does have a ‘cashmere’ touch and feel to it. It's a powder but with a unique smooth and creamy texture that melts and blends onto the eyelids,” says Winnie of the innovative formula. While she tried it with a brush, she’s confident that the product’s creamy texture would be perfect for a fingertip application for a blurred look on the go.

Plus, the complementary browns and blue of the trio make it an easy everyday option for Winnie, offering the versatility of blended neutrals or a fun pop of colour.

After years in the beauty industry, Winnie knows her stuff when it comes to product and performance – and she offered some high praise for Fara Homidi Beauty: “This brand is luxe, minimalist and high-quality. They’re investment pieces worth splurging on with some truly innovative textures that we are yet to see from other brands (something I can really vouch for in my makeup brands and buying role!)”

Anandi, Category Marketing Co-ordinator

Trying the Smudge & Contour Lip Pencil and Soft Glass Lip Plumping Oil, Anandi was all about lips that looked fuller, glossier and still felt hydrated.

“The lip liner blended effortlessly and gave a natural outline to my lips. The lip oil provided a blanket of shine – it felt non-sticky and lightweight, with a jelly-like consistency. I thought they both married well together. Loved!”

It’s a combination she could see herself reaching for again, adding: “I feel like this could be a great casual everyday combo for work, or if you're going out to see friends. While it accentuates the lip and makes them look fuller, it still looks very natural!”

And she’s equally sold on the brand itself. “I think Fara Homidi Beauty as a brand is very chic and It-girl. From their beautiful packaging to their unique formulas, I'm so excited for everyone to try it.”
