Founded by Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson (you may know them for starting a niche little brand called Too Faced), Polite Society is a makeup brand making it their mission to rebrand vegan, cruelty-free and sustainability-focused beauty from ‘beige’, to bold.
Despite only launching last year, Polite Society has already had plenty of viral hits – including a powder blush that acts like a cream, a lip gloss-oil hybrid that is said to give a plump that rivals those of the Kardashians and an egg-shaped, medium-to-full coverage, luminous foundation that looks and feels weightless on the skin.
When these colourful products landed on our desks, we knew we had to assemble a positively polite bunch to try them out. Here’s what they told us…
Tony tries More Than A Pretty Face Foundation
Our Head of Fabulosity, Tony, was thrilled to try the More Than A Pretty Face Foundation on his “mature and dry” skin.
Tony says that while the unusual egg-shaped packaging caught his attention initially, it was the texture that won him over: “It sort of lives between a skin tint, a tinted moisturiser, and a foundation. It's bang right in the middle,” he says, adding, “It gives you a natural radiant glow, but when I wear it, I don’t feel like I’ve got any makeup on.”
And when he declared that, “This is my new favourite foundation!” we couldn’t add it to our carts fast enough. In Tony we trust!
Sara tries Polite Pops Powder Blush
When we asked our People & Education Partner, Sara, to describe the Polite Pops Powder Blush she had one word: “Magical.” And she wasn’t just referring to the sorcery of this blush’s formula – an innovative powder in stick form that behaves like a buildable cream – but also the bold yet wearable shades it comes in.
“The shade ‘Milan’ is not something I would normally reach for,” Sara explains, “But it was so lightweight, easy to apply and added a soft rosy glow without being too overpowering. Plus, I received lots of compliments throughout the day.”
Sara also had praise for the Greatest Lashes of All Time mascara (“The wand was so easy to control”) and the Polite Pout Glossy Lip Balm (“Glossy and nourishing”).
Alice tries B.I.G. Mouth Lip Plumping Oil Gloss
Social Media Editor Alice describes herself as a “serial lip plumper fan” making her the perfect person to try B.I.G. Mouth – the brand's viral all-in-one lip product: “This gives the biggest plump I've ever tried,” she informs us. Polite Society attributes this supersized effect to a combination of blueberry oil, organic infinity pepper and ginger root oil.
“It gave me 'fresh out the injector' lips – and it lasted for hours without needing to reapply,” Alice confirms.
But beyond the plump, “It gives a seriously glossy finish and is the perfect natural shade that I can layer over any of my favourite lip products,” she says, adding, “I’ll be adding this to my handbag rotation for sure.”
A seal of approval if we’ve ever heard one.
