Glittery eyes and frosted lips, (faux) sunkissed limbs, bespoke signature scents and skin-like foundations for the perfect dewy finish – this is what MECCA HQ is obsessed with right now…
Easy party eyes
Playful makeup doesn’t have to be complicated. Recently, I’ve loved applying my VIOLETTE_FR Yeux Paint with an angled brush in place of my usual black winged liner. An all-over lid colour can feel a little intimidating, but a shade like Nuage de Lilas or Violette Sauvage on the outer corner gives your going-out makeup an instant refresh. "I like to add either a bold flick or accents with a brush, making sure to work one eye at a time to perfect the shapes before the formula dries,” explains Jeremy, MECCA’s Customer Education Lead.
Frost yourself
An unflappable summer base
Recently, I’ve started spritzing my setting spray on first, then blending out my base with a wet makeup sponge. The internet says this emulsifies your complexion products and increases wear time, and I say it gives you a dewy, natural-looking finish that doesn’t move at all, even after you’ve spent a 30-degree afternoon dancing to ABBA at your grandma’s 100th birthday party. My favourite combination is Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Setting Spray (currently available in this purse-sized set), followed by Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin Foundation.
Overnight success
With an influx of holiday parties just around the corner, now is the ideal time to employ some of those ‘high-maintenance to be low-maintenance’ beauty habits I hear about by the HQ watercooler (if I’m honest, it’s actually a Zip tap). You don’t have to overhaul your routine to get the DIY glow-up effect, either.
Try maximising your beauty sleep with a luxurious nighttime moisturiser (like Tatcha’s Indigo Overnight Repair), followed by a layer of Luna Bronze’s Radiant Self Tanning Lotion on the body and a couple pumps of the Kérastase Nutritive 8HR Night Hair Serum in the hair. You’ll wake up with hydrated, sunkissed-looking skin and silky hair – minimum effort required.
How to smell incredible
In the same way that covetable lip colours often seem to be a combination of 15 different products, it feels like most enviable signature scents are a mix of at least two fragrances. It makes sense – a blend is always going to smell bespoke and most of the time, will last a little longer.
According to MECCA Fragrance Specialist Steven, the simplest way to layer scents is with different formats – e.g. a hair perfume, a classic EDP and a body lotion. “The D.S. & Durga body lotion in I Don’t Know What offers the hydrating benefits of a body lotion with the addition of their iconic fragrance enhancer scent.” Another foolproof combination is Gisou’s Honey-Infused Lavender-Berry Hair Perfume and anything light and floral – take your pick from this Floral Street set.
