This piece is deeply rooted in my personal journey, a journey of pain, healing, and transformation. Born with severe congenital scoliosis, I underwent over a dozen spinal surgeries from the age of 3 to 12. These surgeries left deep scars on my body and restricted my ability to do the things I loved, like sport, movement, and simply feeling free in my own skin.
For a long time, I struggled with physical pain and body image, carrying shame and sadness, believing I wasn’t enough. But through painting, I found purpose, healing, and a way to reconnect with myself.
Lady Alchemist represents the sacred process of turning pain into power, of alchemising the hardest parts of my life into something meaningful and beautiful. She stands for freedom, not the kind you’re given, but the kind you create within. Her story is mine, and perhaps yours too: a reminder that our scars don’t diminish our light, they reveal it.
