Collection
Bring your beauty empties into any MECCA store and place them in the Beauty Empties Bin – it’s that easy. We collect the packaging and send it to our specialist sorting partners across Australia and New Zealand.

Sorting
Beauty empties are made from many different materials, so they need to be carefully sorted by material type before they can be sent for recycling.

Recycling
We work with specialist recycling partners to process, recover and recycle the materials collected through Beauty Empties. Plastics are sorted by type before being shredded, washed and melted so they can be used to make new plastic products. Cardboard is pulped, cleaned and made into new cardboard and paper products. Metals are sorted, shredded, melted and reformed into new products or packaging. Glass is crushed, melted and remolded into new glass products, or used in construction and road base materials.
Banish
Our Australian sortation partner is Banish, an education and advocacy social enterprise that runs the Banish Recycling and Diversion (BRAD) Program.
Banish is run by the amazing and passionate Lottie Dalziel, a sustainability educator known for helping Australians make more sustainable choices.
