How To At Home Facial Hero 16x9

Giving yourself an at-home facial is not just an excellent way to spend a Sunday night – it's also a sure-fire way to get your skin looking healthy and happy.

As skincare formulas become more innovative and science-driven, and at-home tools more techy and advanced (some of the gadgets you can buy off the shelf will rival what you might find in a clinic), it has never been easier to do all sorts of things, from helping clear up spots and blemishes and tackling fine lines and wrinkles, to imbuing skin with a next-level glow. Plus, doing an at-home facial gives you an excuse to take a much needed time out, too.

So pour your chosen beverage (tea or... wine, we won't judge), light your favourite candle, cue the Spotify playlist and read as we guide you through a simple and easy DIY facial at home, using some of our favourite products.

Step 1. Set the mood

Start by determining what your mood is, or what you’d like your mood to be. Uplifted and energised, or perhaps calm and steady? Then scent your space with either a room mist, essential oil or candle (we’re loving Byredo Fleur Fantôme).

Step 2. Cleanse your skin

Rinse off the day (plus any sunscreen, makeup or dirt) with a gentle cleanser like Eve Lom’s cleansing balm and muslin cloth. Take a moment to really work this luxurious balm into your skin and inhale the herbaceous scent. Breathe in and out. Start to relax.

Step 3. Choose your tools

As peels and devices become more advanced, it can be hard to find what you’re after. MECCA skin specialist Lucy Shaw uses the Dr. Dennis Gross Professional Grade Resurfacing Liquid Peel, followed by one of our most popular devices, the Nuface Fix Device. Like a gym for your face, this device sculpts and tones the face for an instant and noticeable difference. We were impressed to find it lifts the eyebrow after only a few seconds!
Even a little kneading around the eyes, cheeks and jawline will get your blood pumping and leave you glowing.

Step 4. Mask up

Once your face is clean, it’s mask time. You can go for a cream or sheet mask here, as long as it’s packed full of nourishing ingredients. MECCA COSMETICA’s Fresh Faced Sheet Mask is super hydrating and calming.

Step 5. Eye care

After your skin has absorbed all that delicious serum, remove the mask and give your eyes the care they crave with Cosmetics 27 Eyes 27 Bio-Restructuring Cell Repair Eye Cream. Gently tap the cream (never pull or drag) around the eye, working from the inner corners and out and around the brow bones. That tapping motion? Also a very nice mini eye-massage.

Step 6. Hydrate

To finish, massage a moisturiser into your skin (we love the weightless-but-deeply-hydrating Eve Lom Moisture Cream). And yes, we know it’s always nicer when someone else is massaging you, but even a little kneading around the eyes, cheeks and jawline will get your blood pumping and leave you glowing. To lock in this relaxing and hydrating facial you’ve just performed, we use one of MECCA’s most coveted facial oils, Go-To Face Hero.
