From its oval-emblazoned vessel to its freshly picked blackcurrant scent, you could spot (and smell) Diptyque's Baies anywhere.

For many, it was the gateway to the chic world of Diptyque. The Parisian brand, which was founded in 1961, is now synonymous with perfectly balanced signature scents that create an atmosphere in a way only the world’s best perfumers can.

And it’s no coincidence that Baies – meaning ‘berries’ in French – is the first Diptyque scent to captivate so many. A blend of fresh blackcurrant and blooming roses, it’s reminiscent of a wild garden; a little fruity, a little floral, a little green and not too sweet.

But don’t just take our word for it – celebrities and tastemakers all over the globe fill their space with Diptyque’s most iconic scent. Here’s why it’s really that good.

It’s what Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment smells like

Carrie Bradshaw’s impeccable taste evidently extends to candles; in Season 4 of Sex & The City, we first saw Baies burning on her bedside table. More recently, in sequel series And Just Like That, we spied empty Diptyque candle jars peppered all over her apartment, too – most notably in the bathroom, where it had been artfully repurposed as the world's chicest toothbrush holder. Like Carrie, transform your own glass vessel into a holder for cotton tips, makeup brushes or matches – and make it last a lifetime as an object d’art.

LeBron James brings one to every hotel he stays in

Imagine a candle being so good, you can’t go anywhere without one. Case in point: NBA legend LeBron James, who helps set the mood for game day by burning the Baies candle. According to the Lakers star, Diptyque candles help to give hotel rooms a fresher smell and bring an energy of comfort that feels like home. “I have to light a candle in my room on every road trip... It has a lot to do with the energy of the universe,” James revealed in an interview with GQ.

It's the intoxicating scent you’d find in a hotel lobby

Step into some of the most luxurious hotels in the world, and you’ll discover the subtle scent of Diptyque permeating the air – from the Ritz-Carlton in New York to the Mandarin Oriental in Taipei or Biblos on the Turkish Riviera. Treat yourself at home with the very best of Baies to scent your space and transport yourself to the lobbies of far away luxurious places!

It was Harry and Meghan’s wedding scent

Ever wondered what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding smelled like? None other than Baies. To enhance the surroundings of St George’s Chapel, it's reported the pair opted for Diptyque diffusers to be placed all around Windsor Castle to scent the air for their celebrations.

It’s in (almost) every room of Victoria and David Beckham’s house

We all binge-watched Netflix’s Beckham documentary, and while many were swooning over Victoria and David two-stepping to 'Islands In The Stream', we couldn’t help but think about what their luxurious farmhouse smelt like. Now, we know.

A fan of Diptyque decades, Victoria Beckham keeps candles all over her house, as well as in the stores of her eponymous high-fashion label. In the Victoria Beckham flagship store on London's Dover Street, you’ll find giant Baies and Feu De Bois candles together, creating a signature scent for the brand.

Beyoncé has it on high rotation...

Need we say more? If Queen B’s a fan, we’re a fan. “I have a lot of Diptyque candles around the house. Even when I’m away, I have someone burn them. I like having the scent in my pillows,” she told InStyle.

... And so do a zillion other celebrities

If Beyoncé’s recommendation wasn’t enough to convince you, we also spotted Baies burning in the hallway of Adele’s 'Vogue 73 Questions' video, while her good friend Sir Elton John has been known to have a Diptyque candle burning in every room he’s in. Harry Styles’ tour was also scented with Diptyque; a candle was spotted behind-the-scenes at his Indianapolis show. Nicole Richie, John Mayer, Kim Kardashian and Kate Hudson are also fans, to name a few!

Love Baies? Try these...

While Baies is undoubtedly a Diptyque icon, if you're searching for a different Diptyque moment, take a leaf out of the book of some of the coolest tastemakers around the globe. Ramya Giangola is a big fan of the La Droguerie candle, with basil, mint and tomato leaf to eliminate unpleasant odours or cooking smells in the room, while Paris-based editor Ezra Petronio (who also loves Baies) can’t get enough of the brand’s stained glass Temple des Mousses premium candle as a true statement piece.

Or, if you adore Baies and wish you could spritz it all over yourself, try Diptyque's L'Ombre Dans L'Eau EDT – it shares similar notes of blackcurrant and musky rose.
