Our favourite way to spread joy and positivity this time of year is showering our loved ones with beautifully wrapped beauty gifts – but in the true spirit of the season, it’s also a time when giving back to those in need is front of mind.

Today, purpose-led beauty brands including La Mer and ILIA are helping us look and feel good by supporting causes close to their hearts, from wildlife conservation to championing environmental and social change.

“We have many options at MECCA that not only make you feel good about the act of giving but also return double the job by supporting charitable causes,” explains MECCA’s Senior Marketing Manager Sara McLean, who is planning to gift with a little purpose this year.

For 20 years, Chantecaille has been creating Philanthropy Collections where profits go to their partner charities to support the preservation and protection of animals and their habitats,” explains McLean. “The Philanthropy Cheek Colour is the perfect gift for beauty and animal lovers,” she adds. Each is embossed with an animal motif representing a charity supported by the brand.

M·A·C is synonymous with artistry, fashion and now philanthropy, having launched their M·A·C AIDS Fund with the Viva Glam Lipstick (available in three shades: muted red, a soft pink and a deep plum. “This is such an amazing initiative and feel-good gift option,” McLean says. “100 percent of the purchase price goes towards the fund.”

Each year in support of World Ocean Day, La Mer releases their iconic Crème De La Mer in a limited-edition decorative jar and donates part of the proceeds to their Blue Heart Oceans Fund. “Keep their skin glowing and know that you’re helping La Mer in their mission to protect the ocean,” says McLean.

Ceremonia is leading the way towards a more sustainable future through the use of vegan, plant-derived (and Leaping Bunny-certified cruelty-free) formulas, and a commitment to sustainability,” explains McLean. The brand donates 1 percent of all sales to a range of environmental non-profits who work to combat climate change issues.
